Peel and core the apples. Chop them into bite-sized pieces, about 1 inch across.
4 Cups Apples
In a small bowl, stir together the apples, melted butter and cinnamon.
2 Tablespoons Vegan Butter, 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
Add the apple mixture to the basket of your air fryer. Spread the apples out so that they are in an even layer.
Air fry the apples at 400 degrees F for 12-15 minutes, stopping to give the basket a shake halfway through. The apples are done cooking when they are tender and starting to turn golden.
Transfer the cooked apples to a mixing bowl. Pour the maple syrup over the apples and stir to coat. Serve immediately!
2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
Notes
APPLES: I used a combination of granny smith and pink lady apples. Granny smith have a tart flavor that is a great contrast to the sweet maple syrup. Any firm apple will work in this recipe. Honeycrisp, Braeburn or Jonathan would work well. Avoid Golden Delicious, Red Delicious or McIntosh because they are too soft. Peeling the apples is optional. If you don’t mind the peel, leave it on for extra fiber and color! You can also cut the apples into slices, rather than chunks, if you prefer.STORAGE: Store leftover apples in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
