Easy Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

This easy-to-make sourdough chocolate chip cookie recipe is a mouth-watering blend of chocolate, sea salt, and vanilla. Add in the rich flavor of sourdough and you have an irresistible cookie that everyone will rave about!

Ingredients
  

  • 450 grams flour 3 cups
  • 6 grams baking soda 1 tsp
  • 3 grams baking powder 1/2 tsp
  • 100 grams sourdough discard 1/2 cup
  • 2 eggs large
  • 228 grams room temperature butter (unsalted) 1 cup
  • 150 grams brown sugar 3/4 cup lightly packed
  • 150 grams white sugar 3/4 cup
  • 5 grams salt 1 tsp
  • 4.2 grams vanilla 1 tsp
  • 340 grams chocolate chips 2 cups

Instructions
 

  • Whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
  • With a mixer, blend together the sourdough discard, sugars, butter, eggs and vanilla.
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and blend well.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Scoop dough onto lined cookie sheet and place in fridge for 20 minutes to chill.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Bake for ten minutes or until cookies are almost done but still soft in the center.
  • Let cool on baking pan for five minutes, then transfer to wire cooling rack.

Notes

The amount of cookies will depend on the cookie scoop you use.  I use this Kitchenaide cookie scoop which yields 44 cookies.
You can chill these cookies up to 24 hours for a longer ferment and more developed sourdough flavor.  The dough can also be frozen.
